If you get coverage in punk zine Bierschinken and airplay on broadcasting institution WDR at the same time, you’ve really made it. What, exactly, is the question. In the case of Sabrina Duval, Fanny Bouland and Lamson Nguyen, it means a band from Lyon is getting the attention it deserves, across the board. As Decibelles, they make vigorous punk rock with garage and noise influences, with English and French vocal hooks that get stuck in your ear like coriander on stainless steel. Founded in 2005 during their school days, the band’s sound has never been more in tune, and the same with their attitude. In addition to call-outs on cockiness within the punk scene, their album »TIGHT« released two years ago also contains essential tips on style and conventions: »You should leave your disguise and free your mind,« they say on »Sausage Day«. We hear you, Decibelles, loud and clear!
