This year, Deerhoof could be celebrating their 25th anniversary. What does that mean for such a band, to celebrate yourself? Not even the wildest basement party could ever compare to what they have made their signature, from remixes for Maroon 5 to supporting David Bowie to LPs inspired by the work of Igor Stravinsky. Over the course of 14 albums, Deerhoof have crafted a kind of noise-punk that seems to mock both noise and punk. On record and onstage, Satomi Matsuzaki, John Dieterich, Edi Rodríguez and Greg Saunier – the line-up for a good decade – are too colorful, too squeaky, too serious, too down for whatever to be pigeonholed. Anyway, they’d fly right out, as proven on their current album »Mountain Moves«. A unique, strange party that’s just getting started.
