There are two songs by Die Goldenen Zitronen that all of indie Germany can sing along to: »Für immer Punk« »Forever Punk« is one; »Wenn ich ein Turnschuh wär« »If I Were a Sneaker« is the other. But what about the classic small-talk critique »0:30, gleiches Ambiente« »0:30, Same Ambience«? Or better yet, the eleven songs on »More Than A Feeling,« the group’s album released in February and their 13th overall since founding in 1984. Memorable lines come courtesy of guests such as Sophia Kennedy and LaToya Manly-Spain and of course the Lemons themselves: »The wealth of the few is hell to the others« and other even more uncomfortable truths get amplified. For Die Goldenen Zitronen in 2019, attitude is more than a feeling – it’s a duty. Time to mothball the old slogans now that the snarkiest band out of Hamburg has found new ways to describe the not-so-new evils of this world.
