Haszcara

Haszcara is still old-school; Haszcara still does everything herself. That doesn’t mean just writing rhymes and making beats but taking matters into her own hands, too. »Ich bin kein Aushängeschild für dein Frauenbild / Also wär’s gut, wenn du dein Maul hältst / Ich präsentiere keine Szene, sondern einfach nur mich« (»I’m not a poster child of your idea of women / So it’d be good if you’d shut your mouth / I’m not trying to represent a scene / I’m just here to rep myself«) are some of the Berlin-based battle-rapper’s lyrics found on »RepresentA« from her 2017 EP, »Roter Riese« (»Red Giant«). A year later, on her full-length debut »Polaris« for Audiolith, her notes got even sharper. »Jetzt ist Haszcara an der Reihe / Rapper machen auf divers, dabei machen sie das Gleiche« (»Now it’s Haszcara’s turn to play the game / So many different rappers, they do it all the same«), making it clear in the third track, along with the 13 others, that other rappers could learn a thing or two from her, and not just from her explosive live performances. In other words: back to the old-school, time to take notes!
