For Pop-Kultur, Essen trio International Music will play the songs from their celebrated debut album »Die besten Jahre« (»The Best Years«) in an expanded orchestral lineup with »the most interesting big band in Europe« (The Wire), The Dorf. The latter is a Dortmund-based ensemble for primarily experimental music comprising musicians from throughout the Ruhr and its surrounding area. International Music and The Dorf worked together to realise each piece. The resulting new arrangements weren’t meant to confirm to classic radio pop – the aim was rather to transpose the band’s own playing style into the orchestration and to find their own, truly international sound.
