Janto Djassi Roessner is a Hamburg-based musician and photographer. His commissioned work for Pop-Kultur sees him exploring the concept of identity with a focus on its ever-changing and fluid nature. He will be performing two hour-long live-sets that include music, multilingual interviews, audiovisual media and painting, creating a space in which he deconstructs traditional ideas of affiliation and preconceived notions of belonging. »I drew most of my inspiration for this project from conversations I had with family members and friends,« he says in regards to his semi-autobiographical work. »My German grandfather has worked as a pastor and missionary in Namibia while my father was a traditional Griot, a musician and storyteller from Senegal. It is a constellation that intensified my personal life experience and provided me with a lot of material to work with.«
