There’s a question frequently posed to aspiring talent: »Do you come from a musical family?«. In Michelle Blades’ case, the answer is »Yes, unfortunately.« Although the Panama-born daughter of a salsa family spent a big portion of her life in recording studios after her parents fled to the USA, her own creative advances were stifled. When she was 16, she moved out. Her first earnings were spent on a ukulele, and within a couple of years, the multi-instrumentalist was right where she always wanted to be: on the stages of the world. That she owes her pop-music awakening to Feist is clear from her restrained folk songs, whereas the songs on her new album »Visitor« shine with an even poppier garage-rock sound. This is her return to Pop-Kultur after appearing twice in 2017: as the bassist of the band Fishbach and in the duo with Fishbach guitarist Alexandre Bourit.
