There are bands that have nothing more than a cool name. And bands that give themselves the most horrible names but write the most beautiful songs in the world. And then there’s Prada Meinhoff, whose name supposedly comes from a Wu-Tang name generator yet remains as funny, fresh and profound as it did on day one. Luckily, we can say the same for the music by this Berliner duo, making them the sole exception. Anyway, they don’t care about rules. By the time they released their debut LP in 2018, René Riewer and Christin Nichols proved they can breathe new glitter into dead genres like electroclash with just bass, a drum machine and clever lyrics. Each song a load of confetti in the mosh pit. Go ahead and judge this book by its cover.
