Anna Calvi

Anna Calvi has gotten us thinking in new ways with her records, such as the »Strange Weather« cover EP and her most recent album, »Hunter,« flipping the script on gender roles. And not only because of her lyrics – we also think that grammar needs to rewritten in order to properly describe the quality of her music. Calvi’s work requires the comparative form for adjectives that otherwise only exist in the positive. An example for non-grammar nerds: »unique« is the kind of word that needs the comparative form when applied to the virtuoso guitarist. Because who could save rock music other than a songwriter who’s more than unique? Which of course is not to say that more is always better. Because Calvi’s exclusive appearance at Pop-Kultur will bring a specially stripped-down set. So, one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be uniquer, ahem, Calvi than usual.
