How many people can agree on the music of Daphne Oram, Souad Bouali, Kim Wilde and the Meridian Brothers? We can think of two: Sarah Benabdallah and Alex Lebon, who live in Paris and together call themselves Mauvais Œil. But their eye isn’t so much evil as it is misty. Because a certain melancholy permeates the music, which they unveiled in early 2019 with »Constantine«. »Constantine« itself is more of a place (of longing) than a standard music release, shaped by saz tones, Byzantine scales and a wave-inspired disco sound that Mauvais Œil refer to as »Bledwave« or »Death Oriental«. Music with emotion, music to get carried away by, music for a borderless world where everyone finds their place.
