»Absolutely no idea how this got recommended to me,« wonders a certain MrLeoniu on YouTube. »don't speak russian/search in cyrillic – haven't been listening to synth-like stuff in over a year - probably not in a region of interest for a video like this but I'm tearing up because of how good this is, thank you.« This is a comment left under the video for »Этажи«, the second album by Russian post-punk band молчат дома (Molchat Doma), adequately describing what makes the trio so fascinating. Because their purified lo-fi sound, which found the perfect outlet on Berlin label Detriti, could hardly feel any nearer despite its distanced gestures. Although Yegor Shkutko (vocals), Roman Komogortsev (guitar, synthesizer, drum machines) and Pavel Kozlov (bass, synthesizer) first got together in 2017, their musical offering of melancholic brutalism is already more than recommendable.
